With the energy of Saturday's full moon still with us, it feels fitting to introduce astrology's Moon signs on the blog today.
While the Sun sign reveals our outward personality, the Moon sign represents our internal emotions and thoughts. The Moon is our instinctive nature; the part of us that reacts intuitively to emotional stimuli. When you are moved to tears by a piece of music, or get shivers from a line in a poem, the moon in you is responding.
It can be so helpful to learn your Moon sign and to really get to know this side of yourself. This is often a part of ourselves that we keep hidden from the world. It can bring us joy and pleasure, but is also the owner of harder feelings like jealousy, doubt, and fear. It is where our fantasies live and our Moon sides often come out in our dream world. The more you get to know this side of yourself the better you will understand how you interact with the world and the other people in your life.
I find it is easiest to judge my Moon self. Something I am always working on is understanding my inner workings without attaching judgment to it.
Your Moon sign is determined by the position of the Moon at the time of your birth. What sign was the Moon passing through when your were born? You can easily find out your Moon sign on the internet. alabe.com is a great site for accessing a computer generated birth chart. The thing to remember when using sites like this is that the descriptions of the different aspects of your chart are being interpreted by a computer. The computer doesn't do the blending of all the different pieces that a human reading your birth chart would do. Still, it's a super helpful way to get a picture of your chart. From there, you can do research on your own or get someone to interpret your chart for you.
Being able to look at all of the signs in your chart together is the key. Your Sun sign and Moon sign may carry many opposing qualities. Your Sun might describe you as adventurous and outgoing, while your moon may highlight that you are a homebody who needs alone time and doesn't like taking risks. The more you learn about all of the major playing signs in your chart, the better you can understand yourself and why you respond to situations, stimuli, people, the way you do.
